Sure Halloween is all about the candy, but if you want your Halloween handouts to really standout, you can opt for healthier options. Here are a few of my favorite ideas:

Endangered Species All Natural Dark Chocolate Treats
Sure they're still chocolate, but these delicious chocolate squares are all natural (no processed sugars or hydrogenated fats), and a little dark chocolate is actually very good for you due to its high level of heart-healthy antioxidants. As an added plus, 10% of all proceeds from the sale of this candy will go to help support the preservation of endangered species and their habitats. This is a great treat for children who are addicted to chocolate; it's better to get them started on the good, healthier stuff early (I know I wish I'd have discovered dark chocolate at a younger age; it's so much more satisfying than the fake milk stuff!). If you can't find them in stores, you can purchase them here.

Florida's Natural Sour String
I've found these at stores before near the fruit snacks, and they're really, really good. They're like the sugary sour strings that children love, except they are made with real fruit juice. You can also look for other brands like Welch's and Seneca Truly Fruit that also make fruit snacks with real fruit juice (fruit leathers are another good option), so check out stores where you can buy them in bulk to get the best deal. They're not as good as eating a piece of real fruit (which kids hate getting on Halloween), but they're a lot healthier than other Halloween treats.

Edible Treats that Aren't Candy
You can also look at stores where you can buy in bulk for individually wrapped treats like granola bars, small bags of trail mix, pretzels, dried fruit, dark chocolate covered raisins, or organic whole grain cookies. It'll at least keep the kids from completely gorging themselves on all of that candy for a little while.

Yep, I like investing in the Endangered Species chocolates. Thanks!
