The Tiny Tot Brigade is currently made up of children advisors between the ages of 5 and 11. They tackle all kinds of questions and issues suggested by my readers, their parents, and myself. The Brigade has taught me a great deal over the last several months. I have learned that children have a natural innate wisdom. We adults, unfortunately, don't always listen to what they have to share.
I find that sad since children truly have a great deal to teach us. They are open and honest, even when what they have to say is something we don't necessarily want to hear.
Children are full of love. They don't debate it, dole it out is small amounts, or otherwise try to withhold it until we meet their so-called standards. They simply let it "be."
I also love the way that children look at everything - - with a sense of wonder and a wide-open imagination. I miss being able to do that.
This time around, I decided to let the Brigade form their own questions and, of course, answers to share with you. They aren't in a neat compiled package but I think you will enjoy them nonetheless.
Question #1 - What's your favorite holiday and why?
Duh, Christmas of course. Who doesn't like getting presents? (Hamm, age 7)
Valentine's Day. I like getting cards and candy. (Brandi, age 6)
My birthday. It's a holiday to me. (Marshall, age 6)
Halloween. I like dressing up and going to parties. Oh, and candy too! (Paige, age 8)
Any one that gets me out of school. (Bruce, age 10)
Question #2 - Who is your favorite person and why?
My mom. She's just a cool mom. She plays with me, lets me have friends over, takes care of me. What's not to like? (Jamie, age 7)
Spiderman. Okay, I KNOW he's not real but think how great it would be if he was. (Marshall, age 6)
My preacher. He does all these things to make sure that kids stay safe and he's always helping somebody. (John, age 9)
I have to pick just one? That's hard! But I'll say my Nana. She's awesome. (Jason, age 7)
My teacher is pretty cool. She never yells or gets mad and she takes time to take care of us. (Mari, age 7)
