American Idol's Paris Bennett Gives Birth to Daughter Egypt

Paris Bennett of American Idol has given birth to a baby girl. She spent five hours in labor before delivering a 5 pound 15 ounce girl named Egypt. With names like Paris and Egypt, she must have some hidden love for geography. There is no word on the baby's father as he wishes to remain out of the public eye, at least for now. Paris Bennett's family is hoping for a wedding soon.

Paris Bennett appeared on American Idol 5 where she finished in fifth place. She charmed audiences and judges alike with her R&B and classic jazzy style. Paris Bennett also became a personal favorite of Queen's Brian May. He loved everything about her.

Paris Bennett's daughter Egypt is in good hands. Paris Bennett comes from a musical family. Her mother Jamecia Venzett Bennett is a solo artist and former singer in the group Sounds of Blackness. Her grandmother Ann Nesby was the lead singer from Sounds of Blackness. Paris Bennett received her musical training from her mother and grandmother. Although Paris planned on pursuing gynecology, Bennett's grandfather Tim Lee convinced her to audition for American Idol. Paris Bennett is releasing a Christmas album this month and will release another album January 2009.

One of the her motives for appearing on the show was the hope of providing a better life for her daughter Brionne. Lakisha Jones recently married financial advisor Larry Davis.
