The best Halloween songs for a party should be fun and, well, just a little spooky and creepy. Keep the spirit of the Halloween holiday by playing Halloween songs that your party crowd can sing along to, dance to, or even act out some "scenes" from the songs.

Most of the Halloween songs I've selected for my party are tried and true favorites. But I threw in a few unexpected surprises here and there. If you've never heard the song that I selected, be sure to check it out on iTunes. I had fun searching for these Halloween songs. I hope you enjoy checking the list for your favorites or checking the list for some new songs. I know that finding all of these new Halloween songs sure put a dent in my monthly iTunes budget. The good thing is - many of them can be enjoyed year-round.

The list of Halloween songs is divided into pre-party and party songs. For the pre-party, almost all of the songs I've listed are more subdued or not really "danceable" songs. I threw in a fast one or a danceable one here and there, though, just to keep my guests from turning into zombies.

The Halloween songs I included in the dance section are my favorites and are mostly fast numbers.

Begin Your Party with these Halloween Songs

For the beginning of your party start with some slower Halloween songs as the guests arrive. You will still be setting the spooky tone for your Halloween party but the songs won't be competing for too much attention as your guests greet each other. If there's a local band with Halloween songs, be sure to include them for a fun twist. For instance, here in Coastal Georgia we couldn't leave out the B-52's from up Athens, Georgia way.

Takeaways
  • Great Halloween songs can be found from all decades and types of music.
  • Try some new Halloween songs from all the lists here on AC.
  • Be sure to include different types - the blues, ghosts, monsters, witches, devils and more.
Did You Know?
Halloween songs can be creepy or fun. Don't limit yourself to just one type. Think about your "audience" and choose your Halloween songs accordingly. If the Halloween songs are for your personal IPod, go crazy and choose anything you like!

Fun list. What is it about Athens? Y'all seem to churn out good bands.
