Shadowy Figure: A Halloween Poem
Embed:
A chill in the air, On this brisk Autumn night.
Arms hugged close to your body
Walking home in moonlight.
Leaves scratching pavement -
As they blow to and fro.
Your heart in your throat,
You're here all alone.
Then in a moment -
Something catches your eye.
A shadowy figure
You swear just went by!
Laughing at first,
With nervousness abound.
Was it your imagination
Or could spirits be 'round?
Your chest tightens now -
Steps quicken in pace.
Rushing indoors -
As your heart starts to race.
Finally home safe,
Relieved of the shock.
You shut the door
And engage the lock.
But as you turn -
The dark figure reappears.
You're suddenly scared
Almost to tears!
Then not quite knowing
What you should do -
You quickly realize
The shadow was you.
