A Lighter Load

(When Falling May Mean Rising)

7

"Why are you downcast,
O my soul?

Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise Him
,
my Savior and my God.

My soul is downcast within me;

therefore I will remember You."

(Psalm 42:5-6a, NIV)

Longing for levity, pining for pause,
Boldest in brevity, claiming a cause,
Seeking serenity, finding it naught -
Did he forget fullest freedom is bought?

Ceasing the struggle and loosing his grip,
Seeing the light of an oncoming ship,
Gradually gaining a glimmer of gold,
Spies he the vision he longs to behold.

On the horizon, where blues blend to merge,
Waves tumble softly to echo his urge.
Tossing his compass out into the main,
He falls to his knees and finds strength once again.
