I arrived in 1946With my hardware all included-
Genetic generations heard their names
When I was called
By DNA that none excluded
In the package that was me-
The trail was suggested
(But not fixed in concrete)
To who and what I would be.
Then that hard drive was well written on
By good times and by bad-
Programmed by gifts of happiness,
Fragmented by the sad.
And still-in-all, like the machine
That sits before me now-
The software and the hardware
Script the what but not the how.
Derivatives of birth
Are happenstance and fate-
We can't do much to change it
It's the food that was on our birth plate-
And in those strings of program
That gives new life to the past
We must find our way
Each and every day
And quickly - because life goes by quite fast.
