Everyone by now should know that Barney Frank, the Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee was in bed with Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac, literally. Frank resided with his boyfriend Herb Moses in a Washington love pad. Herb Moses was an executive at Fannie Mae.

The role of Frank's boyfriend was to help develop many of Fannie Mae's affordable housing and home improvement lending programs. Barney Frank has collected tens of thousands of dollars from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in campaign contributions since 1989 [1]

"I am the only member of the congressional gay spouse caucus," Moses wrote in the Washington Post in 1991. "On Capitol Hill, Barney always introduces me as his lover."[2]

The willful failure to report Frank's complicity and to expose the failure of members in Washington while our once fundamentally sound economy is crashing along with government-sponsored enterprises speaks volumes as to the double standard of mainstream media and the cowardice of the GOP.

Ideology and the fear of discussing a homosexual relationship trumps sound reasoning. This isn't about Barney Frank's lifestyle, it is about the failure to protect our economy, it is about the complicit actions of a leading member of the Housing Banking Committee.

"These two entities, Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac, are NOT facing any kind of financial crisis."- 2003, Barney Frank (D-MA), the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee [3]

There is certainly enough bipartisan blame to go around regarding the current economic crisis. Our current president let us down by not properly utilizing his bully pulpit, by not effectively leading, by not grabbing the liberals by the ear and exposing their complicity, by having the poor judgment of surrounding himself with snakes.

What did President Bush do to stave off this economical turmoil? To his credit, no pun intended, "Bush introduced the most significant piece of regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry. Specifically, Bush introduced to Congress a plan for a new agency to supervise Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac"-2003, NYT[3]

Takeaways
  • Obama said that the mortgages given to people who could not afford them were a good idea.
  • In 2006, McCain warned the nation of the danger Fannie Mae posed to the economy
  • Barney Frank and Senator Dodd denied these firms were in financial crisis.
Did You Know?
Bill Clinton said,"I think the responsibility that the Democrats have may rest more in resisting any efforts by Republicans in the Congress or by me when I was president, to put some standards and tighten up a little on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac."

Your articles always have a depth that the mainstream news sources lack. Keep up the excellent work, Tony. :-)

That's the best title I've seen in a long time.

Tony, I'm late to the party here, but what a good, concise article. Spells it all out clearly -- and proves that there would be no place for you in the main stream media. Obama is a Chicago machine politician with a Marxist --yes, Marxist-- twist. Not only does he believe in the unofficial Chicago Motto, which is "Ubi Est Mea" - (Where's Mine), but he believes in taking it from others to give to himself and others who ultimately give to back to him: "pay to play". Yes, those horrible Republicans tried to prevent this world wide train wreck, while Barney Frank played with his boy toy in the caboose.

The Truth will set us free, Tony - problem is there are millions not listening to the Truth right now...maybe in four years, maybe eight. Unfortunately for us individually and as a Nation, we don't have eight years to hear. Please continue in your speaking out, here in Associated Content, and in your blog. Be safe, Michael

Tony, what is Barney's boyfriend doing now? I would be curious.. He isn't working on the bailout is he? Is he working on the Obama campaign? Or for MSNBC?

Posted on 10/23/2008 at 9:10:02 AM

Tony, how dare you? Just because Barney Frank & Maxine Waters advocated for Fannie & Freddie is not sufficient to indict Democrats man! Clearly this is a Republican shortfall. Haven't you been listening? MSNBC has been clear - this is George Bush's fault - that's why we need to elect the Lord Obama - to fix all the hateful Republican ill-governance. I say we just get some rope, find so low hanging tree branches and get to it - dem damn Republicans need their comeuppance! They're evil. EVIL I tell you! LOL. Nice job Tony. Keep hittin' em.

What a wonderful indepth analysis of a true debacle. Thanks for laying it out and connecting all of the sordid dots.

How does the old saying go? "We must not only avoid evil, but the appearance of evil." You'd think public figures would have some inkling that the details of their special interest dealings would come back to bite them later? Thanks for the good documentation of sources, Tony.

Great article Tony. Did I read John Mario's comment correctly? Did he actually say that a townhall debate with McCain would hurt Obama? There you have it, they know their candidate is an empty suit. teeheehee....
