Hipsters, welcome to Chicago! You're probably wondering where you can find your deck clothing in this city. I have your sources to where to find hipster clothing in the Chicago area.

Even hipsters need basics. That's why it's most important to know where American Apparel store is. American Apparel has four locations in Chicago: Gold Coast, Lakeview, Lincoln Park, and Wicker Park. For those who are not familiar with American Apparel, it carries basics such as t-shirts, underwear, and socks made in a sweatshop-free US factory based in downtown LA. It's not least expensive place to shop for basic hipster clothing, but it is a good option.

Another basic to hipster clothing is the ironic t-shirt. You have a few options to find t-shirts, but one immediate option is Urban Outfitters. Urban Outfitters also has four locations in Chicago: Rush Street, Milwaukee Avenue, South State, and North Clark. You can find t-shirts for about $25 there, and sizes go up to men's XL.

Guess what? The online store Threadless has a store in Chicago on Broadway Avenue! This is the place to get the ironic t-shirt so essential to hipster clothing. It also has artsy t-shirts for non-hipster and hipster folks alike. Shirts are available for about $20-$30.

Hipster chicks, I haven't forgotten about you. Some of the best places to find hipster clothing for ladies is a thrift or vintage store. My favorite thrift store is the Salvation Army store in Wicker Park. It's a great little store in the heart of hipster country. I've found great dresses and accessories there, and the pieces are reasonably price. You can find a great dress for about $10 there.

If you have a little more dough to spend, check out used clothing at Buffalo Exchange, Chicago's other mecca for hipster clothing. Buffalo Exchange has two locations on Chicago's North Side. You can find all sorts of cool clothing and shoes here, both new and used. If you don't have cash at hand, you can always sell your used clothing in exchange for cash or store credit.
