The third elimination show of the seventh season of Dancing with the Stars aired tonight, and featured the usual guest performances, pomp, and theatrical circumstance. The evening's edition of DWTS began with a recap of last night's action, including judges' and contestants' commentary. In tribute to Misty May-Treanor, pros Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Edyta Sliwinska performed the Jive that the volleyball star would have performed last night had an injury not prematurely ended her tenure on the show. Then, hosts Tom and Samantha recapped last night's judges' leaderboard, which featured Cloris Leachman in last place, and Brooke Burke leading the pack. Tom and Samantha then revealed that pairs Brooke & Derek and Cloris & Corky had been saved to dance again next week.

After a break, superstar R&B group Kool and the Gang performed a medley of their best-loved hits, and were accompanied by several pro dancers. A taped segment featuring the celebrities' thoughts on the competition then aired. Cloris admitted with a laugh that "I think it's pretty funny that I'm in the competition at all", while Cody expresed his love of music and playing the guitar. Brooke mused that her "ability to multitask" was helping her with the competition, while Lance said that he and Lacey's attempts to stand out from the others was great because it allows the "fans to relate to us more." Next, Tom and Samantha revealed that Maurice & Cheryl would be dancing again next week.

Post commercial break, Samantha interviewed the three saved couples backstage. Brooke claimed that the DWTS competition would continue to require a lot of hard work on her part, while Cloris yammered on with random comments that I still don't really understand now. Maurice and Cheryl said that they needed to "represent" for Misty now that she's gone. The Radio City Rockettes then took to the dancefloor with a high-stepping routine as the week's Macy*s Stars of Dance act.

You've got me interested in knowing how the identity of the couple with the lowest score will work. As you noted, they weren't doing that for awhile. I'd have mixed feelings about the wisdom of their new choice, too.
