Dandruff is itchy, annoying and embarrassing. When I was a kid, I had very bad dandruff. So bad, that I had thick, flaky patches on my head that just wouldn't go away. My mother bought several over-the-counter remedies and we tried them all, but nothing really worked. After months of trying and failing, she finally decided to try some natural dandruff cures, one of which worked. If you have dandruff, have tried the over-the-counter shampoos without success or you hate medicated shampoos and would like to try something natural, then check out these natural dandruff remedies. One of them will probably work for you.

Olive Oil - This is the cure that worked for me. Olive Oil has been used in countries all over the world for hundreds of years to cure dandruff and it's dead easy to use. Just rub olive oil onto your scalp and leave it over night. It's thick and a bit gooey but it really does work. Your hair will be lovely and lush too! I rubbed it in nightly for about a week and then washed it out every morning. Within a week, my dandruff was gone and it never came back.

Beer Rinse - Don't know why this works, but it does. Beer is high in Vitamin B and yeast (also high in Vitamin B) and it is good for hair. You can rinse your hair every night with a bottle of beer (you can even use half and drink the rest) and your dandruff should disappear. Beer also gives your hair a gorgeous shine. I just wouldn't use it before going to work in the morning as you might end up smelling like an alcoholic!

Vinegar - Add about half a cup of vinegar to the final wash when you shampoo your hair then leave it over night. It's a bit smelly, but you will get used to the smell and it will wash out the morning after with your normal amount of shampoo. It also makes your hair shiny and, after two or three weeks of rinsing every night with vinegar, you should notice your dandruff disappearing.

Takeaways
  • Natural dandruff cures are cheap and easy to use.
  • Natural dandruff cures involve plants, olive oil and lots of brushing.

Good information. Reminds me of the concoction I used on my hair after it was fried during a perm.

Beet juice, ay? I wonder if I can substitute Borscht.... ;o) Nah, think I'd go with the beer rinse... then the next time my mom complains about how unruly my hair is, I'll just claim that it's drunk!
