How Many Times Did John McCain Say "My Friends" During the Second Debate and How Many of You Want to Slap Duct Tape Over His Creepy Mouth so He'll Stop Saying It

My friends, there is a plague attacking this country. A fat man who espouses the politics of sleaze and who thinks Sarah Palin is the single most qualified human being in America to take over as President should he get elected and die in office has given rise to what has become the single most annoying pairing of two words since "My bad." How many Americans cringe as though they just got brain freeze every time they hear John McCain address us with "My friends"

I don't know about you, but I'd rather share a jail cell with O.J. Simpson than call John McCain my friend. John, in all seriousness, most of those whom you are addressing as your friends are, in fact, not your friends. Most of them simply do not think you are qualified to be President. It's a sick, annoying tactic of pandering. Quit it, you bald-headed freak!

Do you know how many times John McCain used the smarmy beyond belief address of "My friends" in the second debate? 19 times. 19 times! It is my studied belief that John McCain does not have 19 friends. One of his selling points in the debate was that America should elect him because neither Democratic nor Republican lawmakers like John McCain. Yeah, that's always a good idea; elect somebody who has pissed off everybody. That usually works. My friends, John McCain is going to get killed if he keeps using this phrase to the incessant level he currently takes it. Somebody out there is going to simply have it up to here with hearing that phrase over and over and over again. Somebody is going to snap and take down John McCain not because McCain's wrong on every single issue, but because that somebody just cannot take the prospect of hearing John McCain use the phrase "My friends" twenty more time within an hour and a half.

Did You Know?
Does John McCain's stooped, hunched look remind anyone else of Mr. Burns on The Simpsons?

Thanks for turning an otherwise useless debate ploy into a pop culture catch phrase. "My friend", you are a genius.

John McCain keeps saying "my friends" in the futile hope that someone will actually be his friend...

He tries so hard to sound chummy and convincing that he sounds neither.

Maybe he really wants Obama to win so acts badly in order to drive people away from himself.

McCain and Brokaw both seemed like relics of a bygone time. Someone needs to put together a video with the song "You've got a Friend" playing and show McCain, Cheney, Rove, and all the other Rep nut jobs and then flash to signs of the stock market crash and so on.

I can see the Mr. Burns reference. My husband and I both think he looks like a muppet, most notably Kermit, because of the way his eyes and lips move. The "my friends" thing drove me nuts. That debate was so useless anyway.

I noticed the same thing and it really turned me off. He is no friend of mine.

I thought this 2nd debate was a total waste of time. Brokaw's standard selection of questions only prompted the 2 candidates to repeat their usual rhetoric and phrases that we've already heard a hundred times. Nothing new and lots of old.
