The ice cold winters and sub-zero temperatures in Wisconsin can only mean one thing; it's time to crank up the heat! After you're done getting warm and toasty at your cabin in the woods, at home in front of the fireplace, or just nestled at your favorite coffee shop, it's time to head out and enjoy some winter fun. Winter festivals in Wisconsin are a popular attraction for families, couples, and single adventure seekers. If you're not exploring the ice caves and sculptures in Wisconsin Dells, then you're probably enjoying a charming carriage ride in Door County. Here's how to celebrate winter in Wisconsin in 2007:

Take a trip to Door County right on the shore of Lake Michigan, and you'll be in for a real winter treat. From the promenade of boutiques shops to the horse and buggy rides throughout the downtown district, Fish Creek and the neighboring villages offer plenty of fun for the whole family. Take a photography class and learn about the region's roots as the cherry county of the state, or hike up to the cliffs for an adventurous ski experience. From adventuresome to relaxing, Door County is the perfect place for that mini-vacation in the dead of winter.

Don't forget the Annual Klondike Days in Eagle River, scheduled for February 17 and 18. This yearly tradition with Native American roots offers two fun-filled days of activities, shows, competitions, and fundraisers for the local community. The Hayward style lumberjack competition, Chain-Saw carving competition, and a One-Horse Pull are just a handful of the weekend's highlights. The celebration is honored each year to showcase the communities businesses, neighborhoods, and culture. After you've browsed the crafts show, be sure to snag a spot at the Eagle River World Championship Snowmobile Derby Track. The dog sled races and dog-pulls are a perfect example of the area's deep-rooted traditions.
