When I say that I love shoes, I sincerely mean it. In fact, if that statement surprises you, you either haven't been following "Adventures on Two Feet" or you seriously need to sharpen those observation skills. But to say that I merely love these boots would require too much restraint. Let it be known that these boots make my heart want to do obscene things. I know they look beaten up now (I have, after all, owned these babies since high school) but after all these years, I still think they're beautiful. Talk about an undying passion. These boots are incredibly versatile but I like them best pulled over fitted jeans. I doubt I'll ever find a pair of boots to replace these staples after they're completely destroyed. But, then again, it would probably be disrespectful to try and search for a substitute after their death. You just don't do that to diseased spouses, er, I mean, favorite shoes.

Exaggerated affection aside, now it's time for the miscellaneous facts on these buccaneer boots: my mother bought them at Wal-Mart years ago for a mere $7. (Obviously, she can spot a bargain!) I distinctly remember that I was sitting in the magazine aisle, reading, when she brought them over to me. The reason why I call these my buccaneer boots is very simple: a) They remind me of pirate boots, and b) alliteration thrills me (yeah, I know, nerdy things make me shiver). I've taken these boots everywhere: the D.C. Metro, Manhattan, the cornfields of Iowa. And despite rain and snow, they're still in good condition. How faithful!
