You'll definitely have the advantage when visiting Chicago, Illinois on your spring break because most people will be in warmer locations! Don't think because Chicago isn't an ocean-front community that it doesn't have great options for spring break, though! Although the water at Lake Michigan may be too cold for swimming, you can still visit Navy Pier! Chicago is famous for it's shopping district along Michigan Avenue, and what better way to spend spring break than shopping? Chicago also is home to some of the countries finest restaurants and nightclubs. All of these things make Chicago a great non-traditional location for spring break!Hotels in Chicago are usually on the expensive side, but you can find some great deals if you know where to look! If you are interested in shopping you will probably want to locate a hotel very close to Michigan Avenue so your taxi fares will not be too high. Hotels near Michigan avenue, like W Chicago Lakeshore and Best Western Chicago run about $150 to $200 per night. If taxi fares aren't a big deal to you, you could stay in a cheaper hotel close to the airport like the Super 8 Motel. Many of the hotels in Chicago offer swimming pools and hot tubs, so at least you'll get some time in your bathing suit on spring break!
One of the best attractions in Chicago for spring break is Navy Pier. Navy Pier is located on the lake front of lake Michigan and features great rides like the Navy Pier Ferris Wheel, The Musical Carousel, and the Wave Swinger. There is also a miniature golf course, ropes course, and remote control boats at Navy Pier. Navy Pier also features Chicago's Children Museum and the Smith Museum of stained glass windows. There are also great musical shows at the pier for the whole family. The are also fireworks and live music at the Navy Pier every Wednesday and Saturday night. One of the best things to do during your spring break at Navy Pier is to go on a boat cruise! Navy Pier offers many different types of boat cruises in different price ranges. You can go on a cruise on a four masted boat or even a diner cruise on a chartered boat.
