black and white photo
reveals a burning face
the wisps of dwindling apparitions
loiter on the stairs
and chill these sleeping nerves...

an iron from the grave
allows the ghoul to brand
the fiery tones of hell beyond
onto our earthly doorsteps
as sunlight slips behind...

the demon breathes a deathly wind
of spindly cold and blades
that pierce the night with metal sound
and tear us from our beds
to walk the streets in fear...

it's witching hour, hallow's eve!
the frightened neighbors cry
as devil's tears dissolve the rain
and burn straight through the night

holy water sits in hand
for spirits rule our kind...

on halloween.

Devil's Night

I think this picture says it all.

Nice work! I hope to avoid the "dwindling apparitions loiter[ing] on the stairs" this Halloween. :)
