Christmas lights aren't just for Christmas anymore. There are several unusual uses for Christmas light during and well after the Christmas season. These uses are easy to implement and won't cost you more than a few bucks if you already have the Christmas lights.

Shelf Lighting

You will need a hammer and some nails, flat back gold colored push tacks, a small hanging wall shelf, sheer colored fabric and of course Christmas lights.

Take a small stand of Christmas lights and apply them to the wall making continuous and 2 inch apart S-shapes. Take your Christmas lights at the beginning and end of each line as well as the end of each line to keep them securely in place while being careful not to pierce the wires or a light. Grab your fabric (non-flammable) and fold it so that it is two layers thick. Tack this up to the wall precisely where the hanging shelf will be placed and over the Christmas lights. Make sure that the Christmas lights are spread perfectly throughout the fabric and that they do not overlap. Now grab your shelf (preferably a lightweight wooden or plastic three tiered shelf) and nail it up directly on the fabric and lights. Be careful not to nail through the Christmas light strand or hit a light with your hammer. Apply photos or other small nick-nacs, plug in the Christmas lights and you are good to go.

Closet Lighting

You will need a strand of Christmas lights (more if you have a large closet) and some flat back gold colored push tacks.

This is super easy. Drape the Christmas lights evenly throughout your closet making sure to get most of the lights on the ceiling and some lower as to illuminate from underneath. Tack the Christmas lights into place and make sure no clothing or any other flammable things will come in direct contact with the Christmas lights. Plug in the lights and now you have unique closet lighting.

Deck, Patio or Porch Lighting

You will need Christmas light strands (amount will depend on size of area being used); flat back gold colored push tacks (if wooden) or Velcro (for any other surface) and a small hammer (if you have difficulty pushing the tacks into the wood).

I have patio lighting with them for my hot tub and then there is a whole bunch in my golden mantel tree to bring out the yellow flowers at night in my tree. I love sparkly things.
