How Governments Can Help Reduce Fuel Consumption

One of the major worries of mankind today include :

1. How long the oil resource will last.

2. How the pollution can be reduced.

There are a number of easy strategic decisions any government can implement to reduce oil consumption and thereby increase its life on earth and reduce pollution.

1. Make Electric Vehicles Tax Free: Boost the sales of Electic Vehicles by not expecting any taxes from its sales. Let electric vehicles replace petrol/diesel/gas vehicles.

2. Make Batteries of Electric Vehicle Tax Free: Make usage of Electric vehicles more attractive by reducing the cost of batteries.

3. Subsidise solar equipments : Solar Lights, Solar Cookers etc. should be available at a reduced cost to promote its usage.

4. Invest in R&D of electric vehicle and solar equipments : Government should invest heavily in research and development of electric vehicles, their accessories and adoption of solar energy to run more and more equipments

5. Prohibit sales of fuel inefficient vehicles : Many vehicles available in the market are highly inefficient in fuel. Their sales should be immediately stopped.

6. Phase out oil subsidies : Government of many Asian countries subsidize oil prices. This should be immediately stopped. If the prices of petrol/fuel rises then only the demand will reduce.

7. 30% of Government jobs should be converted into home jobs : Lot of fuel consumption on transportation will reduce as less people will have to commute to office

8. Promote good public transport arrangements : if more and more people use public transport, fuel consumption will reduce drastically.

9. Reward good fuel saving inventions/innovations handsomely : Rewarding handsomely will give people a reason to think more and more about it.

10. Easy loan options for companies who want to have integrated townships : people will have to commute less by staying near to their workplace

11. Guide and educate people and garages to maintain their vehicles better and make them more fuel efficient.

12. Special ministry for Energy Saving : All governments should have a special ministry which focuses on fuel and energy saving.
