Step1
Being efficient pays off! Fuel efficient cars can definitely help save your bank account. Small cars with outstanding fuel economy are not for everyone; especially due to less room and in some instances, compromised safety. But, if you drive long distances they can have a huge impact in your travel expenses.

Step2
Organization! Combining errands and events can save you time and money. Most of us spend a lot of time driving around to pick up things that we forgot during our regular trips. Hanging post it notes or leaving a pad of paper in your kitchen and bathrooms, so that family members can jot down any needed items can also be useful in preventing unnecessary outings to pick up something at the store. Online shopping, in many instances, may be more economical than the trip to the nearest mall or department store. In addition to saving gas, you can price shop from the convenience of your home and you may even be lucky enough to find a discount coupon or free shipping offer.

Step3
Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho, It is off to work I go! Driving to work, for most American's, is where most of our gas goes. If you live significant distances from work it may be a good time re-evaluate your current residence, especially if you rent. Unfortunately, selling a house in today's real estate market can be as frustrating as the gas prices. However, if you rent, you may be able to find housing that is close to your work, for the same cost. In that event, relocation may be a wise financial decision. Other options, working from home, but not all employers or jobs can be done from the comfort of home. However, if you work at a job where it is possible to perform your duties from home, it never hurts to ask.

Our driving style has a big impact on fuel economy and by changing the way we drive improves fuel economy by 37%. Most drivers consume their brakes by 25% more time than they need to. Hypermiling would be the best technique.
