As recent news shows, the United Illuminating Company, controlling a majority of Connecticut's power needs, is increasing their prices by a substantial percentage. According to the UI website, rates are being accelerated in the first few months of 2007 to help continue the service of electricity to its customers. The UI is calling this an "offset" approach, where an overall 47.3% increase in a monthly electric bill is made.

As normal people with monthly bills, we look at any increase with a grim face. No one wants to pay more for their services. It creates more of a hassle to stretch out hard earned money in order to make our own, personal payments. For many of us, this means more hours of work, a little time and a half overtime in the bank, and closer look at where we spend our money. If it's a night at a restaurant or a shut off notice, I am sure many would agree where they would like their money to go.
