Today, while I was surfing Flickr for my daily favorite photo, I came across a picture that was simple in nature. I found a photograph of a woman holding a hand written sign and decided that I wanted to know what the sign said, and since the thumbnail was too small to read what was written I clicked the photograph. What I saw was a picture that lead to a story of such great human caring, such honest love of mankind, and I knew that this story deserved and needed to be told.

Maria Conceicao started with a vision of the project in April of 2005, and by July of that year had the project on the ground. Ms. Conceicao is a Airline Stewardess who saw a need and made her mind up that doing anything, no matter how small was better than doing nothing. She held garage sales to supplement her desire to send help to the families of Dhaka. She was able to see a school constructed, a clinic for those who are sick, and training for the men and women. They also get stipend salaries, materials and child care when their training has been completed, so that they may work in the employment they are placed in.

The Dhaka Project is a non profit mission that aims to provide support to families in the Dhaka, Bangladesh area. The Project's goals are at once lofty and simple, to supply the families with training to conquer poverty becoming self sufficient. The project also aims to provide education to the children of the Dhaka region, so that they can look forward to a future of possibilities that before this were not always possible. Food and clothing as well as medical aid to the families is also given by the project.

The goal of the Project is to bring sources of income to the people of Bangladesh, and the Projects website states that emphasis is being placed on " supporting sustainable development, particularly with children, and they use local resources to support the local economy when ever possible.
