The Melting Pot is one of the only fondue restaurants in the St. Louis area. The restaurant has 2 St. Louis area locations: one in Town and Country and one in University City. I have only personally been to the University City location but The Melting Pot is a chain, so both the locations should be very similar. The Melting Pot offers a romantic atmosphere for dining along with a great fondue experience. The menu features cheese fondue appetizers, salads, meat fondue entrees, and chocolate fondue desserts. There are many variations to choose from, and all are delicious!

The first thing you will notice when you walk into The Melting Pot is the romantic atmosphere. The Melting Pot is dimly lit and features large booths. The booths are almost private, so you can feel comfortable having a long conversation with your significant other here. The only thing that can dampen the romantic atmosphere at The Melting Pot is the long wait you will encounter if you don't have reservations. If you are going to The Melting Pot on a holiday, like Valentine's Day, you'll want to make reservations weeks in advance. The restaurant is extremely busy on holidays and weekends and without a reservation you can expect to wait about 1 ½ to 2 hours.

At The Melting Pot you will get a complete fondue experience. Eating here takes a lot longer than the typical meal because you actually cook your own entrée at the table. A typical meal at The Melting Pot takes about 2 ½ to 3 hours! You can order any combination of fondue that you want- but I recommend the Big Night Out. It's the perfect four-course fondue meal for any romantic night and it's even made to share with your significant other! The only downside to The Big Night Out is that you will both have to agree on the same food choices!

I'm new to St. Louis but have eaten at Melting Pot restaurants around the country. To celebrate my wedding anniversary, I made reservations. On making the reservation, the staff member asked if I'd like balloons (for a fee) which I agreed to. We arrived at the reservation time. We were told that until diners finished eating that there would not be a table available for us. We waited 45 minutes. Other people who came after us were seated, including several couples and a party of 8. After being re-buffed by the hostess several times, I was more insistent. She checked the computer and found that someone had been seated at our table. She said she'd seat us immediately. She then proceeded to provide service to three more parties who were just arriving. Our 45 minute wait in the bar was frustrating. The guitarist, who was not particularly talented, had the amplifier overly loud for the small bar. We were regaled with "adult contemporary" music for the 1970's. Having lived through that era, I

Funny. When I said something about romantic eating places to my best friend the first thing she said was The Melting Pot. I guess I need to go try it out, lol.
