Check out Greenwood Washington, one of Seattle's top neighborhoods...

In the late 1800's, Greenwood was actually a cemetery, and was called Woodland until 1907. In 1907 the bodies were removed and the neighborhood was platted for housing instead. The oversized lots are 5,663 square feet, but some are now being divided for newer construction.

The Greenwood neighborhood is bounded by N 75th Street on the south, N 105th Street on the north, Eighth Avenue NW on the west and Highway 99 on the east.

A typical three bedroom one bathroom home in the Greenwood area costs around $280,000 with an average of just over 2,000 square feet of living space. Despite the seemingly high cost, the average time on the market for these high-demand homes is just four days! This is a very sought-after area, and homes under $300,000 are considered a bargain.

The neighborhood is also within walking distance of the Greenwood business district, (which is a haven for antiques lovers), and has convenient access to the freeways.

Greenwood is served by the North Cluster of the Seattle School District. There are no high schools within the Greenwood neighborhood, although several are nearby. There are two primary schools in Greenwood; Greenwood Elementary and Bagley Elementary.

For those who love art, there are dozens of art galleries and shops in Greenwood. Greenwood also sports several excellent restaurants, including the famous Pig 'N Whistle and the Carmelita, a vegan-friendly Mediterranean restaurant. After diner, an evening out might continue with a show at the Taproot Theatre or a tour of one of the two art galleries.

For residents who choose not to drive, the Metro bus lines pass through Greenwood on two different routes, and there's also plenty of free street-side parking. You can shop for antiques at the Antika Antique Mall or at Hurds Antiques in Greenwood. For more contemporary goods, it's just a short drive to the nearby Northgate Mall..

Seattle is located in King County not Washington County. I went to school in Seattle and lived there a few times even as an adult. Greenwood is a beautiful place, but you forgot to mention Woodland Park Zoo.

Any article on the Seattle area hits the top of the charts for me. I used to wonder if Seattle wasn't originally the Garden of Eden. Thanks for the memories! Antique Shopping is a must in Greenwood.
