Top Ten Corner: Halloween Songs
Embed:
Each Halloween, my family and I turn the front of our small home into a monstrous haunt. Apart from various figures, webs, props and lights, we also include a small stereo spinning some music to add the atmosphere of our display. Our Halloween CD is put together by having everyone in the family pick two songs. So, allow me to share with you our current line up of ten Halloween tunes that will be screaming from the stereo speakers on the best night of the year.10. Twilight Zone
Artist: Golden Earring
Year: 1982
Trivia: Reach #10 on the US charts.
This pick belongs to me and I only chose it because I got hooked on it because it was played constantly by the Midway pinball game of the same name. The only thing that this song has to do with Halloween is the title. The actual song is has pretty confusing lyrics, but the video does help provide an idea what the song is suppose to be about. Apparently, there is a secret agent who is captured by some men, roughed up and then more than likely shot. All that matters is that it is catchy and I can sing it... even though people wish I did not.
9. Werewolves Of London
Artist: Warren Zevon
Year: 1978)
Trivia: Title refers to the first Hollywood movie about werewolves.
I remember reading someplace that Warren Zevon liked writing music, but hated writing lyrics. After hearing this song, I am inclined to believe it. It's a good song about werewolves doing crazy things. Well, I guess any song about werewolves is kind of crazy to begin with.
8. Scooby Doo Theme Song
Artist: Larry Marks
Year: 1969
Trivia: Shaggy's real name is Norville Rogers
When my daughters picked the original Scooby Doo theme song for our CD, I wasn't surprised. The good old Scoobster has enjoyed a revival in recent years and not just with his new cartoons. The local cartoon channel began to air the older cartoons and my daughters took to them like fish to water. It does annoy the wife when my daughters and I break out into spontaneous quotes from the show ("Zoinks!", "We need a plan", "Would you do it for a Scooby snack?").
7. Thriller
Artist: Michael Jackson
Year: 1984
