I read this on a blog, ...negative reinforcements of using a rod is wrong, and God that uses a rod is evil...paraphrase, by a philosopher and i think professor, not quite sure, but here's my response to what I interpreted from his response...i could have missed his message, but like any art, words can be interpreted personally, and here i go again...:)

but I wanted to chat about it on mine. The ages are changing, growing maturing, technology is changing, we are changing...:)

In the past, children was beat to the death, in the Roman empire punishment was the torture of crucifix, so therefore, we are all growing in the renewal of our minds. Coaches used to drive their athletes in workouts to get performance, and children slave labor was approved, slavery, trafficking, and so forth, though much have changed, we still have much to go...:)

Yes, we are learning that higher grounds of love is to be gentle, kind, patient, loving, good, giving, and in self-control over our tongue, actions and thoughts, it is obvious that a renewed thought progression is developing our lives to a greater stance in life...disciplining children, spare the rod, spoil the child, what is discipline, in all times, it was fit for that time, for whatever reason, that is how they did their best for what they had...it is nothing but learning stages of development...now we have other means...

I use to believe that sparing was the ultimate way of disciplining a child, now I have learned how much, how hard, when, what, and so forth, when I fall and break my leg out of accident, is that discipline, i did it by accident, but by careless behavior, i fell, and my bones responded to that fall...:)
