Corona del Mar:
Corona del Mar is part of Newport Beach, but is more like a village within Newport Beach. It is across the bay from Lido Isle and the inlet bay is the route sail boats use to go out to sea from Newport marinas. It is a unique community of varied people with one thing in common a love for the ocean and the environment.
While living in Corona del Mar I never worried one day about the welfare of my growing children. If I came home after an evening class I had a Newport P.D. in my rear view mirror as I parked the car. As I reached for my keys to open the front door, they would flip a flashlight and leave as if to say good night. Oddly, I never met any of them. My children had excellent teachers and the neighbors were pleasant, but not intrusive. In Corona del Mar most of the streets are the name of flowers or plants in alphabetical order. Names like Avocado, Begonia, Carnation, Dahlia and Goldenrod. Walks to the beach at any time of the day or night were safe and filled with sights of beautiful gardens and a mix of bungalows and interesting architecture.
