Night at the Museum: A Christmas Weekend Box Office Success

The race for one of the hottest box office weekend takings of the year commenced with the start of the Christmas in full swing. The contenders schmoozed, oozed, and press circuited themselves to the point of exudation. The completion consisted of a comedy fun for the whole family that takes place in a museum, a heart felt based on a true story of a town that lost there entire football team in a plane crash, a farm boy who happen to come across a dragon's egg, and a spy thriller.

The newly released contenders had to go up against the successful releases of last weekend to make the challenge of box office topper that much more challenging. The Pursuit of Happynesst (2006) is a story about a struggling salesman (Will Smith) who takes custody of his son (Jaden Smith), faces homeless, but against all odd sets out on a life-changing professional endeavor, top last weekend's box office with $38.3 million. It respectfull took 2 spot from the top and gorssed $15 miliion for the weekend.

Rocky Balboa (2006) the sixth installment of the Rocky saga sees Rocky come out of retirement to go into the ring again had a mid-week release and received very good reviews. Sylvester Stallone starred in and directed the last chapter of what has turned out to be a triumph and a completion of sort for the beloved character Rocky. Rocky has taken a total of $22.4 million to date. The movie held its own over the Christmas weekend at number 3 with a weekend box office taking of $12.7 million.

Charlotte's Web (2006) previously released before the Christmas weekend releases is the loveable story Charlotte a spider and Wilbur the pig who is scared of the end of the season and ending up on the dinner table. He hatches a plan with Charlotte, a spider that lives in his pen, to save him from such an awful end. The film stars Dakota Fanning as fern and a stellar cast of who's who's lending the voices to the children's tale of companionship between two unlikely of God creatures.
