Good old Halloween spooking up upon us. What would your Halloween be without ghosts, goblins, witches, and carved pumpkins? Carving a pumpkin for Halloween is very fun for the whole family to enjoy, but it does take some patience to create, especially if you want a unique pumpkin carving. It's really amazing what you can actually carve into a pumpkin. Every year my family picks out a cool pumpkin carving like a ghost, wolf, or a cat. This year we decided to make two pumpkins for the kids. The first one is a castle and the second one is going to be the joker from the Dark Knight. How cool is that to be able to make your own Joker pumpkin for Halloween? The Joker is the top Halloween costume so why not have a joker pumpkin to match? The problem is trying to find the Joker pumpkin stencil. I have been trying to find the stencil for a few weeks now no luck though. Since I am an artist I attempted to draw a Joker stencil myself. I took a picture of the Joker from the movie Dark Knight and made my creation out of it. I think it looks like the Joker definitely something different. If it doesn't look like the Joker to you at least it's still different from your normal pumpkin carvings. Here is my attempt.
Wash the pumpkin
Take a carving knife and slice off the top half
Now carefully remove the top of the pumpkin place it onto a piece of newspaper
Use a big spoon and try to remove all the filling inside the pumpkin including the seeds
Draw your Joker design. You can try and print mine out if possible or you can use mine as a drawing guide by looking at it.
Start with the Joker eyes use the best carving tool possible. Then do the nose followed by the mouth and chin. Then place two slits on right of nose and one slit on left of nose. Now make three lines above the eyes, which are suppose to be the wrinkles on the Jokers forehead.
Make three small incisions on each side of the eye.
The fun part- Start cutting the shapes out carefully with your carving tool. Once you have all the shapes cut out place the lid on top. Take your tealights place them inside the pumpkin watch your Joker glow. This Joker carving should only take you 30 minutes to do.
