Actress Rose McGowan to Play Porn Star Linda Lovelace in "Inferno"

Actress Rose McGowan is set to play porn star Linda Lovelace (of Deep Throat fame) in the new movie "Inferno", which will be based on the life of the adult movie star. McGowan the 35 year old movie and television star has recently been in the news over comments she made about the terrorist group the IRA after filming the movie "Fifty Dead Men Walking." Her comments that she would have joined the Irish Republican Army if she had been from Northern Ireland, had red face movie producers apologizing on her behalf.

Fresh from that controversy, the actress has landed the role of Linda Lovelace (Linda Bergman). Lovelace, whose claim to fame was starting in the 1972 hardcore film "Deep Throat," was herself a controversial figure who lived an often turbulent life which included drug addiction, and an arrest for possession of drugs, went on to rail against the porn industries in her memoirs "Ordeal" and "Out of Bondage." In her books, and in interviews, Lovelace claimed that her venture into the adult movie industry were a direct result of her marriage to Chuck Traynor. She was quoted as saying that Traynor beat her and threaten her life if she refused to act in adult movies.

McGowan is probably known best for her five year role (2001-2006) as Paige Mathews, one of the Halliwell sisters in the television series "Charmed." Emancipated from her parents at the age of 15, McGowan got her start in Hollywood films with a small role in the 1992 comedy "Encino Man." Other movies in which McGowan has played in included, "Jawbreakers (1999)" and "Grindhouse (2007)." She is also slated to start in a movie based on the comic book character "Red Sonja (2009)" with boyfriend director Robert Rodriquez.
