Christmas decorations are such an enjoyable part of the holiday season. The interior of the house is filled with lights, a Christmas Tree, toy trains, garlands, ornaments ribbons, stockings and candles. Remember to brighten the stairway with Christmas decorations to delight the eye. Decorate the banister of the stairway of Christmas, as an enhancement to the interior decor of the house. Staircases with rails make a lovely focal point and are an excellent place to add decorations for the holiday season. Staircases can be decorated with garlands, lights, ribbons, ornaments and plants to make the home look cheery and bright. Following are some suggestions. Enjoy being creative when decorating for Christmas. Complement the overall decor of the interior when decorating the stairway. Decorations on the stairway should complement the overall decor of the house, not compete with it. The Christmas Tree is usually the centerpiece of interior decorations for Christmas, so the staircase should enhance the tree by using a matching color theme, or a simpler look so the tree can really shine.
1. Choose a color theme. It is best to stick with a main color theme. Multicolored lights are merry looking. Monochromatic themes are very popular, such as all blue, all red or all white. Lights on the stairway do not have to be an exact match to the tree. If you have multicolored lights on the tree, it is okay to use clear or white lights on the staircase.
2. Keep the stair rail functional. The stair rail is a safety feature, designed for people to hold on to while using the stairway. Keep the original function in mind when attaching decorations to the stairway. Make sure that the decorations do not interfere with people's ability to grasp the rail.
3. String lights on the stairway banister without causing a trip hazard. Keep safety in mind when decorating the stairway. Wires across the floor or across the steps cause a dangerous trip hazard, that can cause injury.
