"They dress the woundof My people
as though it were not serious.
'Peace, peace,' they say,
when there is no peace."
(Jeremiah 6:14 and 8:11, NIV)
Prescription Post-Its
A Limericked Leap on Minds Asleep
In serendipity profane,
We swim in sinful shadows' stain -
Go with the flow,
Although we know
It swings us closer to the drain.
It seems an inconvenient truth
That we pretend extended youth;
We sneer at fate
And fabricate
Sweet insincerities uncouth.
For purposes medicinal,
We daily dose till we're unwell,
The tightest knot
May be forgot
If just we label it most swell.
A leaf with stellar points aligned,
Grants temporary peace of mind,
Discoveries
Of broken ease
Will soon return, lest we be blind.
So satisfied, as lazy lambs,
We're prey to predatory scams.
We gobble lies
With no surprise.
We're unprepared for life's exams.
If I could live in era past,
I'd choose to let tradition last.
World-weary now,
Will we allow
Our freedoms torn away so fast?
A sweet solution is festooned,
Although our morals we've marooned.
Let's tape the gash,
With festive flash,
And hope to hide a fatal wound.
"My people have been lost sheep;
their shepherds have led them
and caused them to roam
on the mountains.
They wandered over mountain and hill
and forgot their own resting place.
Whoever found them devoured them;
their enemies said,
'We are not guilty,
for they sinned against the LORD,
their true pasture,the LORD,
the hope of their fathers.'"
(Jeremiah 60:6-7, NIV)

Prescription Post-Its
Ducks follow the lead duck, unaware of the sludge around them. Lambs follow shepherds to lush fields or slaughter. How do we choose leaders worthy of trust? What danger lies in masking a mortal wound, simply because we wish it not so? Is first aid enough?
