Exercise bikes are fantastic ways for pregnant women to get a full workout long into the last part of your pregnancy. Unlike other forms of exercise like running, using an exercise bike is a safe and effective way for you to continue reaping the benefits a workout can provide long into the late stages of pregnancy. Other low impact workouts like swimming, yoga, and walking on a treadmill are also great workouts to enjoy during pregnancy. Aerobic exercise helps to increase blood circulation and helps to deliver oxygen and nutrients to the muscles. During pregnancy, this becomes especially helpful as the amount of blood your body is making increases. Exercising while pregnant has also been linked to easier deliveries, decreased pelvic and back pain, and stronger pelvic muscles (which are much needed during the pushing stages of labor!). The good news with starting a low impact workout like riding on an exercise bike is that you can start at any time--even if you're pregnant! As long as your doctor gives you the green light, you can start using your exercise bike and continue using it through your pregnancy as long as you don't have any complications. The question is, do you use one in the gym, or buy one to use in your home? If you have a current gym membership, it's probably cheaper to continue to using the one in the gym. If you are looking to buy a gym membership to help you stay fit during and after pregnancy, consider this. If you will have help with the baby to where you can steal an hour to get to the gym, than buying a membership may be worth it. But you won't be able to use the gym daycare until your baby is much older, and you will be extremely tired from round the clock care you have to give the baby. You may not want to spend the extra 15 minutes to and from the gym in the car driving. Or feel guilty if you're not using your membership simply because you are too exhausted.
