First, it is interesting to note that the first cases of Acid reflux coincide with the time that ibuprofen and some other common painkillers were released to the general public. Secondly, some of the drugs that are used to treat asthma patients have been proven to cause and aggravate Acid reflux and its symptoms. So far, the general public seems rather unaware of these two very important associations between Acid reflux and medications available today, including over-the-counter medication that is generally considered safe.
Although the exact ingredients that cause Acid reflux are not yet documented, research is underway to understand exactly how and why Acid reflux is aggravated by the use of these medication. The other important factor that just cannot be denied is the food that is now so common. Vegetables, fruits, and other natural foods are now infected with pesticides more than ever before. At the same time, the surge in excessively fatty and sugary foods cannot be denied. There is increasing evidence that foods high in sugars are responsible for causing many symptoms of Acid reflux. Fatty foods with low proteins have also been shown to cause stomach acids to stay in the stomach for much longer than other kinds of food. This can result in higher amount of damage to the stomach lining and the esophagus.
