Homemade antiqued paper for Valentine's Day crafts can be made from simple household items. The finished antiqued paper can be used in homemade Valentine's for kids, homemade Valentine's Cards, or any other Valentine's Day related craft or project. How to Make One Sheet of Homemade Antiqued Paper
Supplies:
One sheet of paper, any size, preferably white
one teabag
one coffee mug or teacup
one cup of boiled water
An adult needs to boil some water and pour it into a cup with a teabag. Once the tea has steeped and cooled down, after about 5-8 minutes, remove the teabag. Squeeze the teabag to remove any excess water from it. Gently dab or rub the teabag on a piece of paper for a "stained" or "old-looking" effect.
Children and kids can get involved at various stages of the simple process, as long as adults handle the tasks of the boiling the water, pouring the water, and removing the teabags.
How to Make Multiple Sheets of Homemade Antiqued Paper
Supplies:
multiple sheets of standard size plain white paper (8 1/2 x 11)
5 tea bags - can be any black tea, with caffeine or without
a large bowl
papertowel or waxpaper
patience during the drying process
Another method of making antiqued papers for Valentine's Day crafts and other papermaking projects is to actually dip the paper into a bowl of tea.
First, fill a large bowl or square or rectangular baking dish with about 5 tea bags. Pour boiled water into the bowl or dish and let the tea steep. When the tea is made, and the water in no longer clear, but brown, use a large spoon to remove the teabags.
Take one piece of paper at a time and dip them into the tea, making sure to cover both top and bottom of the paper. Place the wet piece of paper flat onto a papertowel or wax paper to dry.
Repeat the process for as many sheets as needed. The paper may take 24 hours or more to dry, depending on the weather and the climate.
How to Further Enhance Homemade Antiqued Paper
One way to add more character or homemade antiqued paper for Valentine's Day or other craft projects is to first take a piece of paper and crumple it up. Children will have fun during this part of the process in making homemade antiqued paper.
