1. Rifle(s) by Remington, Winchester or Savage. These can be purchased at most sporting goods stores. A gift certificate would be ideal for this due to licensing and permit laws.

2. Ammunition. See above.

3. Rifle scope by Bushnell, Nikon, or Leupold. Find and compare scope features online in preparation for shopping. Again, any sporting goods store will have these in stock or can easily order what you need.

4. Binoculars by Leupold, Olympus or Nikson to name a few. Magnification and optics are advancing right along with other technologies and they give remarkable visibility with a clarity normally found only with fine telescopes.

5. Camouflage clothing would be welcome. Short sleeved camo shirts and mosquito netting face masks for the early, warmer part of the season and long sleeved shirts and jackets for the cool, later part of the hunting season. Jackets, pants (pull on and zip up), coveralls, gloves, hats can all be found in the camouflage design at most major deptartment stores or sporting goods stores. The Bass Pro Shop or Cabelas are favorite stores in person or online. The darker camo wear is for the earlier part of the season when there are still leaves on the trees and they get lighter for when the leaves start dropping and more sun comes through the tree limbs. Mossy Oak and RealTree are popular brands.

6. The orange safety vest or hat is always appropriate along with a camouflaged seat cushion, and camo rubber boots.

7. Wild game recipe book. A recipe book worth it's price will describe the different ways a deer or other big game can be processed, including making seasoned sausage or ground meat for deerburgers or spaghetti sauce.
Include a smoker, grill, or food dehydrator to cook the wild game or dry it for jerky treats. These can be found at department stores, home supply stores, and sporting good stores.

8. A tree stand. Climbing or non-climbing. Treelounge is a popular brand. Found at major deptartment stores or sporting good stores.

9. A paid membership to a hunting club. Preferably one that is well run and accepts one person per one hundred acres.

Takeaways
  • 1. Gifts for the Hunter are easy to find.
  • 2. Wild game can be a healthy alternative food source.
  • 3. Hunters need to check their home states' gun laws.
Did You Know?
Jerky can be made from beef, buffalo, elk, and everyones' favorite, turkey jerky.

I'm going to send this to my wife. She's been asking me what gifts I want for Christmas, and mentioned a gift card to the hunting store or sporting goods shop. This is much better!
