You finally popped the question, and she said 'yes'!! Now there's so much to do! Where should you start? Here's a pre-wedding calendar for the Groom-to-be...

Up to 12 Months Before the Wedding ~
* Decide what style and size wedding you want to have. Discuss potential wedding plans and budget with your fiancée. If parents (hers or yours or both) are going to be involved, sit down with them and clarify who's paying for what.
* Decide what kind of reception you and your bride-to-be want to have. Contact reception site for reservations. (Remember, you're not the only people getting married! Reception halls fill up far in advance.)
* Select your best man, and any other attendants. Contact everyone you want to be in the wedding, and make sure that no one's calendar conflicts.

Up to 9 Months Before the Wedding ~
* Visit with the clergy member or other official that will be doing your service to discuss the details of he ceremony, so everyone knows what to expect.
* Start making up the guest list. (If you try to do it at the last minute, you'll forget someone!)
* Discuss honeymoon destinations with you fiancée. If you're planning on using a travel agent, now is the time to get in touch with one. Not only do you need to make reservations early, but early-booking can save you a lot of money too!

Up to 6 Months Before the Wedding ~
* Select a florist. You'll need to arrange for a bouquet for the bride, corsages for the other women in the wedding party, and boutonnières for the men.
* Sort out transportation to the ceremony and the reception for everyone in the wedding party. Carpool? Limos? Who's driving and where do they park?
* Book the honeymoon! Finalize those plans and get your tickets and reservations confirmed. If you're planning to go outside the country, make sure your passports are in order, and that you both have up to date vaccinations.
* Register for gifts. Decide (with your fiancée) what registries you want to be listed with, and make out your lists with each one.

Gotta agree with Sarah Cohen. A checklist for a groom! Nice one. Subject alone made me give a look-see.

Hmmm, I'm not sure I'd give my fiance even half of these responsibilities. I wouldn't expect him to pick out flowers, or register for gifts on his own and I don't know a single bride who has given her groom those duties. Finally, I won't be buying my groom a gift! Marrying me is gift enough :)

I agree with Sharon - great list for a groom. These days the men are much more involved in planning than they used to be!

I don't believe I've ever seen a checklist for the groom! This is terrific - especially considering the number of marriage proposals that are made this time of year!
