Ideas About Reverse Racism
Does Racism Against Whites Exist, and What is Anyone Going to Do About It?
When I think about racism against Whites I am a bit torn, but this is the best way that I think you can really articulate the phenomenon that the current climate of those who say that Blacks discriminate against Whites has turned into. When you have either become associated with a certain behavior and were either guilty of carrying out that behavior against another group in society it is easy to see how you would be concerned about what that group would do to you if and when they were ever given the chance. But if your guilt was by association and you had never really carried out those behaviors yourself, or you were more of someone that didn't necessarily stand up against the injustice, rather someone who merely condoned the behavior, but didn't carry it out either, those fears are somewhat irrational. It often suggests one of a few things, that you are stereotyping that race or group of people again, because you feel that if given the chance they would do something as you previously posited that they would or always do something because they have the chance or that you are coming to terms with the idea of their newfound freedom. While there may be Blacks or those of any culture that will seize this opportunity to engage in what has come to be known as reverse racism that isn't to say that all would or that anyone consciously has. The idea is as complex, if not more, than racism by the mainstream society against everyone else historically was. Many times it is real and many times it is just a theory. Many times that group of individuals has prejudice against those of their own culture, which often times is as commonplace, if not more, than any perceived hatred you would feel that they have of yours.
