A Night of Trickery

She steps outside into the night
From the ground a strange mist rises
Concealing everything from sight
Hushed whispers and footsteps
Are heard in the quiet distance
The air fills with an eerie sensation
On her fingernails she begins to bite
She shivers as chills run down her spine

Specters of gloom and doom wear fearful faces
They lurk and loom in the darkest of places
Houses are haunted with sheets and chains
And skeletons are found in everyone's closets
Spirits have crossed over from the astral plane
To roam the streets this year again
She hurries to her house this frightful night
Runs inside and turns on the porch light
A gathering of ghouls turn down her street
Upon her door they begin to beat
She turns to make a hasty retreat
They burst in and surround her before she can run
Loudly shrieking the words "Trick or Treat"
It's Halloween night and time to have fun.
