Ann Coulter Calls Kwanzaa a Lunatic Blend of Black Racism...by Paula Neal Mooney

I love Ann Coulter. And now that Ann Coulter has dissed the so-called African-American holiday called Kwanzaa, calling it "a lunatic blend of schmaltzy '60s rhetoric, black racism and Marxism," I love Ann Coulter all the more for being a white woman bold enough to diss a Kwanzaa celebration in a manner that I always thought but dare not spoke of.

I get the Kwanzaa cards in the mail around Christmastime and never appreciate the attention they take away from the birth of Jesus. Kwanzaa supporters will say it's all complimentary, but like Ann Coulter writes, I believe we've been duped into giving credence to some fake fight-the-power holiday.

Kwanzaa kinda reminds me of the fake red-black-and-green-Africa-on-a-leather-medallion sporting brothers who went to Florida A & M University with me, the kind who chided me for reading Cosmo -- a "white girls" magazine, after all, they'd say, as they summarily abused their "Nubian queens" to the high heavens.

They were false facades to an ideal, not the real thing itself. And Ann Coulter has now exposed the window dressing of Kwanzaa for what it really is: A way to detract from Christ's birthday celebration, with its supposed worthy community principals shrouded in African (or at least African-sounding) names.

Bah humbug to Kwanzaa. Ann Coulter just exposed what I'd been thinking for years. Coulter is a smart lady who doesn't apologize for being intelligent and conservative and sexy and alluring while she blows the liberals out the water with their theories of "no religion" and such.

I stood in Borders blown away by Ann Coulter's on-point observations in Godless: The Church of Liberalism. While I admit that Ann Coulter's comments insulting the most prominent 9/11 widows were over the top, I'm right in line with Coulter on this Kwanzaa thing.

And I love the way Ann Coulter closes her recent articlecriticizing Kwanzaa with this Bible verse: "There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus" (Galatians 3:28).

That's what I'm saying, Ann...

I think Ann Coulter is a great woman who fights for freedom, truth and justice in the AMERICAN way. She does not cry like a loser liberal and a traitor democrat.

Kwanza is a racist Black holday. My uncle celebrates it and he hates ALL Whites and Jews too. It was created by a Black racist former jail bird. I hate Kwanza and every stupid other made up piece of hate nonsense which keeps Americans from being American.

While Marshall seems smart, there are some men who probly see a skinny woman with blond hair and say "oooga!" like in the cartoons. I like this article. I loathe Ann Coulter with a passion but I like this article. And that's hard to do!

I echo what sindy lucas said. on top of that i really do believe that people are all ways too concerned with the wrong things in life and not concerned with the right things in life!!! people are too judgmental, worrying about others and not worrying about themselfs!

I like Coulter, I don't like everything she says nor agree with it, but I like how she says what she wants and doesn't apologize for anything. She is a strong woman, most people don't have the nuts to say the things she says and if they do say something and people are angry they are quick to apologize so they don't risk sounding racist/evil/sexist/etc...She is one tough lady and I respect her.

Ok. First. I just want to say, Paula I respect your opinions I think that they are smart and well thought out and intuitive. However, I feel that you are crazy to hang on every word that Ann Coulter says. The only reason she seems to have a voice is because she is "Hot." Her and her comments would be swepted under the table if she looked like Madeline Albright. Although Madeline Albright's comments are more articulate and intelligent. I MEAN WILL SOMEONE TELL ME WHO THE HELL SHE IS REALLY!!!?? PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME WHY SHE HAS A VOICE???? IS BECAUSE SHE IS PRETTY?? Anyway, (Sorry Paula) Great article even though I don't agree with it. Bye

I always laughed at Kwanzaa because it originated at CSULB, which is of course in Long Beach, CA. It's my hometown. I don't think anyone's going to respect a holiday that was invented down the street. However, I don't necessarily think it's completely subversive to Christ, especially when people are celebrating in conjunction with Christmas. I respect your opinion on this though, as someone who probably has had more experience with the holiday. Because have NEVER received a Kwanzaa card. Well, one that wasn't sent in jest, anyway.

Getting off topic here but I do appreciate what Marshall said about her sexyness (sp?). As a woman, I am not very good at judging what men find sexy. I am sure that many men do find her sexy, but I think she is a little scary looking. I suppose some men do find that sexy.

Wow...guess I won't make your Favorite CPs page, huh, Marshall?

First off, I kept waiting to read something here to let on that the writer of this piece was being sarcastic, but sadly, it never came. Wow, just... wow. Secondly, while there is no shortage of retorts I can make to this bass-ackwards, intolerant, zealous pile of bigotry you call an article, the one thing that stands out to me the most is this: How could anyone possibly consider Ann Coulter, she of the emaciated body, man voice, and makeup-caked horse face, how could anyone ever consider her SEXY?! Cold chills run down my spine and bile rises in my throat at the thought of her naked body. Like a seven-foot, light-skinned, Ethiopian Skeletor on meth and diet suppressants. Not to mention the sludge of a brain behind those mascara-laden eyes. Blech.

jhseph, you should think back beyond the modern Roman Catholic church; back before 1054 AD. I didn't mention Rome in my city list because it was not the biggest player at the time of canonization. The churches from the Eastern half of the Empire held more sway than Rome. "Whites" indeed were in the minority at Nicea. I fear you are coloring your interpretation of history through a post-1054 and post-Reformation lens.

@theBarefoot: I very much doubt that people of color were the decision makers at the Council of Nicea. And that happened to be sponsored by whom? Everything Rome does is related to political power and control. Bare in mind the pope vs emperor conflicts thorough out the history of the western church. They basically pick and choose the gospels that assemilated best into gentile customs. You can't expect pagan people to just all of a sudden drop their beliefs and live a life like Jesus did. You got to water it down some, add some mustard here and there and your ready to roll...thats why Pauline Christianity was so popular with the romans.

Why is it anyone's business what holiday the other celebrates peacefully in their own homes? This is American, isn't it.

i don't care what anyone celebrates, don't give a d***, but i don't knock what any one celebrates either. if you don't want to celebrate kwaanza (which i don't, i dont' even know what it's about) then don't celebrate it, don't celebrate xmas or anything else but don't rain on someone else's parade cause you don't agree with it. Happy New Year Everyone!
