Even the best of presentations fail to persuade and convince the audience. Most forms of communication or presentation fail because they are unable to grab the attention of the audience during the first few minutes. It is very important to grab the attention in the initial moments of contact. You can comfortably steer the audience in your own direction and sell your ideas with ease. There are some ways in which you can grab immediate attention.Learn everything about the audience.
Each mind is filled with endless thoughts, plans, fears, whims and fantasies. It requires a great deal of effort to divert such a mind towards what you wish to convey. Therefore, the first step is to learn more about the audience. This can give you a clear picture of their needs and you can frame your subject line of opening statements that can attract their immediate attention. Learning about the audience also helps you in the later stages during the feedback session. You can foresee the questions that can be asked by the members and be equipped with interesting answers.
Begin with a personal note.
Once you have identified the needs of the audience, it is easier for you to begin with a personal note. Beginning with a personal note has many advantages. The receivers can easily relate to the topic and realize the fact that you respect their sentiments. If it is a one-to-one communication, you can easily strike a rapport to your advantage by referring to a previous interaction with the same person. This saves you from a great deal of effort trying to convince and persuade the other person. Most efficient sales executives make use of this trick to sell their ideas or products.
Strike a chord with irony.
It is often difficult to attract the attention of all the people in a large gathering in a single moment. There are some easy ways in which you can do that. You can play with words or sound more rhyming in your approach so that the listeners are immediately tuned. Likewise, you should rephrase national happenings with a touch of irony that acts as a diverting catalyst.
