Looking Inwards
I see you,
vividly amidst the smoke;
clawing your way out.
Your finger tips are sore and festering
with the wounds of despair.
Your eyes pleading,
seeking the light,
but there is only darkness.
Where has the life gone?
Did it ebb slowly,
while I wallow in misery?
I'm staring at the eyes
seeking answers,
wondering why;
hands ready to catch a glimpse of joy,
As I looked into the mirror.
vividly amidst the smoke;
clawing your way out.
Your finger tips are sore and festering
with the wounds of despair.
Your eyes pleading,
seeking the light,
but there is only darkness.
Where has the life gone?
Did it ebb slowly,
while I wallow in misery?
I'm staring at the eyes
seeking answers,
wondering why;
hands ready to catch a glimpse of joy,
As I looked into the mirror.
