Some schools do not have a required set of reading books to use in the classroom. When I taught Language Arts, I chose to read several chapter books with my sixth grade students. This is a list of projects I gave students to choose from after completing the book, Tuck Everlasting. These were used as grades in place of a test. The children love it and it allows a teacher to provide teaching to different learning styles. Each activity can be graded with a rubric. You can create your own rubric at www.teach-nology.com. After completing these projects, we finished up the unit by watching the movie.

Tuck Everlasting Assignment
*Choose TWO of the following assignments to complete.
*DUE DATE:
*Be as creative as you can!!!

1. Draw a scene from the book, Tuck Everlasting and write a paragraph describing the event(s) that are illustrated. (At least 5 sentences.)

2. Make a booklet of the characters that were in Tuck Everlasting. Be sure to draw the characters and give a brief description of them. (Personality, who they were related to, and what part they played in the story.)

3. Write a new ending for the book about what may have happened if Winnie had drank from the spring. (At least 3 paragraphs.)

4. Make a list of at least 10 different comparisons between the movie and the book. Write the description of what happened during the events.

5. Write an epitaph (what you have placed on your tombstone when you die) that may have been inscribed on Winnie's tombstone. (Other than what the book stated.) Be sure to include her most important accomplishments. Draw a picture of what it would have looked like.

6. Create a board game to be used as a review for the book, Tuck Everlasting. Think about the setting to illustrate your board and possibly use vocabulary, characters, plot, etc. for question cards. Be sure you have some way to store the game. (Pizza boxes work great! Ask me if you have questions.)

7. Do a study on kidnappings and make a chart for your results. Be sure you have facts and important dates.

Maybe the person who commented before me should learn the proper English Language before they comment on how a book is.
