I know a lot of people are shocked that people are still using dial up internet service. But there is one main reason most of these people are doing this. They have no choice. They either have to put up with dial up or
they would have no internet service at all? What? Are you baffled? Yes, it is true. Case in point, me. I live on a road that is surrounded on both sides by trees. Most of my neighbors are older people who have been here for years. There is no cable television service. Why? A list will run up and down the road every year or so, but not enough of my neighbors will sign it to entice the cable company to go to the expense to run their cable on my road. The phone company does not have the updated equipment or will foot the bill to install the updated equipment to allow broadband services. That leaves Direct TV. Yes, I can afford their television services, but not their internet services.
Yet, I am not the only one in this situation. There are thousands like me, right here in the good o'le United States. That is why I decided to check out some of the leading ISP dealers for dial up services, especially here in Ohio. Here is a bit of what I learned.
Walmartconnect.com. Officially, it is now called Netscape Connect, now. But you can pick up the installation CD at most Wal-Mart stores. It costs only $9.95 a month. They have a lot of different dial up numbers. You get up to seven email addresses. You can even download music from them for only 88 cents per song.
PeoplePC.Com. This dial up service offers plans starting out a mere $4.97 a month for the first three months and then goes up to $9.97 a month. PeoplePC.com also offers free email protection, popup blocker, internet call waiting alert, and spam controls. For $7.47 (first three months) and then $14.95 a month, you can also choose to have PeoplePC Security this includes a free accelerator. This accelerator is suppose to load pages faster than standard dial up services.
