Looking for a great handmade Valentine's Day gift? Well, hand made soaps in Valentine's Day heart designs are a fun gift that is easy to make. The best part of this fun handmade gift is that one size fits all! Making hand made heart shaped soap is very easy. Even if you have never made soap before, you should be able to easily complete this simple project in less than 2 hours. You should expect to pay about $15 - $20 for materials, but you can get a lot of small Valentine's Day soaps out of one batch.

Kids can help with this simple Valentine's Day heart shaped soap craft, but they will need a lot of supervision because you will be working with hot materials. I might reserve this project for teenagers and adults. They can also give this to their teachers for a small gift.

To make some Valentine's Day Soaps You Will Need:

Heart Shaped Cookie Cutters (you can also use cupid or rose shapes)

1 lb Block of Heat and Pour Soap

Essential Oils (optional, but go for cinnamon or rose for Valentine's Day if you choose to!)

1 microwave safe measuring cup or bowl
cookie cutters
clay
wax paper
knife

1lb blocks heat and pour soap is available at craft supply stores in glycerin or coconut base. It is a simple product to work with a very affordable.

Essential Oil, which is optional, is also available at almost any craft or art supplier store. You can buy great smelling essential oils for almost any smell you want. You can even mix and match varieties for a new smell.

Essential oils are great if you want to add a tropical fragrance to the soap like coconut, vanilla, melon, eucalyptus, or even cinnamon.

Now, the first step is to roll out clay on a piece of wax paper. You want to set the cookie cutter in the clay but do not cut all the way through.

Now, Cut your one-pound soap block into 1" squares. Next, place it into a microwave safe cup. You want to melt it for 15 seconds on high. If soap is not completely melted microwave in 5-second increments until fully melted. It is important to not overheat your soap block material.

Now, Allow soap to sit for a minute until a skin forms on top. Next you should push away the skin mix in a few drops of fragrance oil if you want to.

Takeaways
  • Now for the fun, pour soap into the Valentine's Day heart shaped cookie cutter mold in the clay.
  • You can use air drying clay or regular old clay, it does not matter.
  • You might be able to use leftover play dough if the kids have any.
