12/20/06 10:26pm: Saddam Hussein was executed today, by hanging, in his native Iraq. Charged with war crimes, Hussein was taken into custody shortly after he was returned to his native land by U.S. officials.

Hussein's daughter hopes to bury her father in Yemin, until Iraq is "liberated," she says. However, no plans for the release of his body have been released.

Well, thank you for the page views. I hope you find the information you are looking for. As this blurb was nothing more than an AC alert within two minutes of the national coverage, you seem to be looking to old news for something more. Believe me, I am not complaining.

OH PLEASE!!! Better???...

Yeah, Bob: a "reating" of 3.1 is not something to type in all caps about.

Hi Bob: I, the author of the piece, emailed this page to several people as it was at the top of breaking news for a time, and some discussion ensued. I am unclear about what you consider to be a high rating or a large number of emails, but at best, even if my emails are not counted, it has been sent 13 times, and has hovered at a 3.0 since its publication. I would love it if this blurb had the problems you describe, but unfortunately for me, your complaint seems out of context. It was published in an extremely timely manner, so it hit breaking news and has been discussed. For more information, I would agree that CNN would be a good place to start...

I am glad that Saddam recieved what he had coming for all the deaths he created in Iraq years ago. But, seems that no one appreciates the things that America does to help other countries be better in society.

We won't know what the Iraqi people really think about the U.S., about death of Hussein, or about the validity of the Iraqi court who ordered and carried out his execution until we are out of their country.

And what I'm waiting for is all the conspiracy theorists to start the talk of him not really being dead...The images just prior to hanging are so clear, but the images of him on the stretcher are so blurry, blah, blah, blah, etc...He's really being hidden in Idaho or something... I wonder how long it'll be for those to pop up.

Also on the video, he was clearly not the smiling martyr he'd previously claimed to be. And to the small percentage of Iraqis who wish to follow in his footsteps goes the message that this is where they lead. Most Iraqis celebrated the fact that he no longer exists. As far as people who hate America--something is wrong with them, plain and simple.

This will be seen by the people of Iraq as American revenge carried out by a puppet regime... nomatter if Hussein "had it coming" or not it should have been done only after the US was totally out. Now, the sad scene of him on those gallows being taunted and ridiculed will be played over and over grinding salt in the wound. I am certain, due to that video Saddam Hussein's name will be used as potent rallying cry for those who hate America. In jail he would have been forgotten... on that video he lives.

The question that continues to be on my mind is whether actions such as this and the attempted extermination of Osama bin Laden are less effective because of their beliefs, or whether, like for most men, death is still a deterrent. Hopefully some day we will get beyond this. Also, I'm sure many people are saying what I did - how long until the video is on the Internet? It seems the question is better phrased (as it is already Sunday) how long has it been on the Internet already, because it is. Is that what Time Magazine's Person of the Year is up to?

While I do not delight in death, Saddam had this coming. He was a brutal tyrant, and committed many atrocious crimes.

My personal opinion is that death solves nothing. However, as to the question of more attacks on the U.S. as a result, it was the Iraqi court that ordered and carried out his execution.

Leaving aside the question of the purpose ..is his hanging going o solve the violenceor increase it? more attacts on the us?

Posted on 12/30/2006 at 5:12:00 PM

Its purpose is not to solve anything. It is simply his punishment for the many despicable acts he perpetrated against his own people.
