How to Vacation in Your Own Backyard

Everyone needs a vacation. Sadly, few are able to take one. Amazingly there are individual who have never taken a real vacation. By vacation I do not mean trips to grandma, or visits to other relatives that leave you feeling more exhausted than you were prior to leaving home. Many people have a twisted definition of vacation. Vacations are essentially the time of the year when we are allowed uninterrupted time with our family. This means no visits, phone calls, or invites. This is the time to unwind and be free from obligations. We live in world where being too busy to enjoy ourselves has become the norm. It amazes me how some people will have weeks upon weeks of vacation time banked with their employers. What prevents many from taking time off?

The Biggest Vacation Obstacle

The obvious - and legitimate reason is money. Money is what holds many of us back from achieving our goals. It takes money to start a business, family, savings account, and so forth. It also takes money to take that long overdue trip to Disneyland, or that second honeymoon to Hawaii. Sadly, a large number of Americans earn a decent salary, yet they do not have the money for lavish vacations. Understandably, every aspect of life has become more expensive in recent years. This includes the cost of living, the price of fuel, daycare, and so forth. It appears that living paycheck-to-paycheck has become the norm regardless of whether you make $30,000 a year or $60,000 a year.
