Ten things you can Do with Your Christmas Tree: Assuming that it is Real.

With the Holidays over, the time has come for most people to put way the decorations, which includes the Christmas tree. If your Christmas Tree is real, and you do not want to dump it into the garbage, there are 10 other uses for your Christmas tree that you may not have considered.

1. You can recycle your Christmas Tree. Although, most people may consider this to be a hassle, it isn't; it is environmentally sound and most states have a Christmas tree recycling program set up. These programs set up a time and location where you can come in to donate your Christmas tree, and they take care of the rest.

2. Recycled Christmas trees can be used for chipping. To make the chips break off the branches of the Christmas tree and feed it into a chipper or if the branches are brittle enough break it apart by hand.

3. Mulching programs are rapidly developing in most states, check to see if your state has a program in which they take in old Christmas trees for that purpose.

4.Use your Christmas Tree to shelter wildlife. You can place your Christmas tree in your backyard or garden, to be used as a feeder and sanctuary for birds. To draw the birds to the tree you can use different types of food like small kernels of popcorn.

5. It is possible to plant your Christmas tree in your backyard, but it depends on what type of tree you have. Christmas trees that can be planted in your backyard have to be rooted or containerized. You can research online to see what other types of old Christmas trees can be replanted.

6. How about sinking your Christmas tree in a pond or lake? The tree can be use as a refuge for fish and a place where they can safely feed. Of course, you might have to check to make sure you won't get into any trouble, but the few minutes it will take to check will be worth it.

7. Some states use old Christmas Trees as barriers for their lake and river shorelines, see if where you live is one of them.

8. You can cut off the branches of your old Christmas tree and lay them on the flowers in your garden or backyard as protection against the winter.
