Anne Pressly died today at the age of 26. She was a morning news anchor for KATV in Little Rock, Arkansas. The murderer is still on the loose. Anne Pressly lived in Little Rock, near the country club. CNN reports that police say that they believe the attack on Anne Pressly was a random crime; her father has stated that due to the violence and nature of the crime he believes the criminal may have been a stalker. Anne was severely beaten about the head and face; almost every bone in her face was broken.

Since her mother discovered her upon going to her home when Anne did not answer a wake up call, Anne has been in the ICU and sedated. She was not able to communicate and thus did not give any information to the police about the attack. Her credit card was used at a nearby gas station after her death. The video surveillance tape has been given to the police for analysis.

Anne's parents have released a statement following her death in the hospital. "We were with her in her last moments and although our hearts are broken, we are at the same time comforted by our faith knowing that Anne is now with our Heavenly Father."

The investigation into the crime continues. There were no signs of forced entry at Anne's home. Her profile at the news stations lists that she owned two cocker spaniel dogs; thus it is a mystery how someone managed to get into her home in the middle of the night without the neighbors hearing a ruckus.

This crime serves as a reminder that violent crime is too commonplace in America. One always hopes that a home is a safe and secure retreat from the chaos of the outside world. Too often though, with home invasion crimes increasing, the home is a place of violent, deadly crime. The nation mourns Anne Pressly.
