A Story for My Young Grandson

The Rich Boss

Once upon a time there was a very rich man who had lots of employees. He decided he wanted to go on a long trip around the world, so he handed over all he had to three of his most trusted employees.

To the first employee, he gave $5 Billion, to another employee he gave $2 Billion, and to the third employee he gave $1 Billion. He was a smart man and he knew which men would best handle what he gave to them for safe
 keeping.

Right away, the first employee invested his $5 Billion in oil and gold, and he made $5 Billion profit. That meant he now had $10 Billion! The second employee went out and invested in real estate when houses cost a lot more, and he made $2 Billion profit. That meant he now had $4 Billion! And the third employee got scared and dug a big hole in the ground. He buried the $1 Billion in the hole and covered it up with lots of dirt.

One day the rich boss came back and asked the three men what they had done with his money. He was gone a long time before he came back home, so he was anxious to find out what his trusted employees had done with his fortune.

He called the first employee in, and the dude said, "I did real good, boss. I took the $5 Billion you trusted me with and I invested it and made $5 Billion more. So here's your $10 Billion! The rich boss was very happy with this employee, and he said, "Since you did such a good job with my money, I'm going to make you boss over lots of guys. You'll be second in command!"

Then the rich boss called the second employee in and asked how he had done. The employee pushed out his chest and said, "Boss, I took good care of your money. I made $2 Billion more, so here's your $4 Billion! Oh, the rich boss was so happy! He said, "I'm proud of you, boy. Because you took such good care of my money and made me even richer, I'm going to reward you with a promotion. I'm very pleased with you."

Sheryl and Katlyn express my thoughts exactly. Yes, April, you did such a wonderful job taking this great bit of verse from Matthew and making it come to life in a way that so many, young and old alike, can understand and relate to.
