Happy New Year! 2007 has arrived with the promise of a better tomorrow, along with memories and lessons of yesteryear. Many trends emerged among the 12 months of 2006, embedding themselves into the news, the entertainment industry, pop culture, and even our daily lives. Now that we have a fresh start, it's time to evaluate what served us well, what we need more of, and what needs to be silenced until vH1 makes "I Love the New Millenium-2006".

Scripted TV Shows
Is it true? Has network television managed to recover some of its soul from the devil that is Reality TV? Yes, real actors are once again reading from honest-to-God scripts. Ever since shows like The Office, My Name is Earl and Lost have been dominating the ratings, I have once again revisited my old friend Couch with the prospects of real entertainment. It's a good thing, too, because I was actually starting to care if Paris and Nicole would ever reconcile. The Simple Life just wasn't the same after they broke up, and I don't see why...oh, God! It's too late for me! Run, save yourselves!

Alternative Exercising
I'm sure that the majority of people who bought Carmen Electra's strip aerobic workout on DVD had no intention of doing much exercise when they took it home...not to say it didn't get their heart rate going. The concept, however, is a beacon of hope for those of us who loathe the gym or any sort of monotonous treadmill workout. I don't know anyone who has time to worry if they've gotten into those spiderweb machines correctly, or even worse, if those pretty little trainers are laughing at their 1980s workout fashions. Now there are hundreds of ways to get active, and the ideas just keep coming. Whether your custom workout involves, hula hoops, strollers, or even bellydancing, you'll find a way to stay fit in the New Year.
